Breaking Stereotypes, Building Bonds

Lezha, Albania (04.04.2025-10.04.2025)
I’m on my last day from this youth exchange in Lezha, Albania, carrying with me a heart full of joy, reflection, and connection. This youth exchange was more than just a project, it was a space where I felt truly alive, curious, and free. The topic of gender stereotypes brought together different people from different countries and cultures, and what we created together was something I’ll never forget.
We explored how gender roles and expectations shape our lives, often in ways we don’t even notice. Through conversations, activities, and powerful discussions, I started to recognize how deep-rooted these stereotypes can be. But at the same time, I felt hopeful. Everyone was open, kind, and willing to grow. We laughed, we listened, and we challenged our own perspectives.
What made this exchange special was the atmosphere, it was safe, supportive, and full of life. At the cultural night I got to know more from each country, thing I didn’t know. We had so much fun dancing, to the point where my hair was ALL wet. I ate the food on the tables and they were delicious. I wish we had those foods here.
I loved everyone here, but I got closer with the greek team, we stayed up together until really late at night. My sleep schedule was definitely ruined, but it was DEFINITELY worth it.
It might seem like i only had fun with specific people, but no. I had fun with every single one. We danced, shared stories, played games, and somehow turned into a little family in just a few days. If I went back in time I would still choose to come here.
This was my first ever youth exchange, and to be completely honest I thought that it would be only presentations and presentations. I’m glad I was wrong. I learned so many new games. I will use these with my albanians friends.
Here I saw strength in vulnerability, and beauty in honesty. Whether it was talking about serious topics or joking around during free time, every moment mattered.
This experience reminded me how important it is to speak up, to question norms, and to keep learning. I’m returning home inspired, not only by the knowledge I gained but also by the people I met, each one leaving an imprint on my heart.
